Joel Shoemaker is a board-certified physician assistant who earned his Master of Medical Science from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. Before joining Tampa General Medical Group, Joel worked at University of Florida Health Shands Hospital, a high-complexity academic medical center in Gainesville. He performed a broad spectrum of comprehensive critical care duties within four surgical intensive care units: trauma, cardiac, thoracic/vascular and general surgery. Prior to earning three different academic degrees, Joel served in the United States Army from 2009-2013. As a health care specialist, he provided point-of-injury medical care to soldiers in combat settings and conducted non-combat primary care management of military professionals. Joel is a longtime member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
