Charles Lewinstein, M.D.
Vascular Surgery
About
Dr. Charles Lewinstein has more than 38 years of experience in vascular surgery and is a member of regional and national Vascular Societies. Raised in Southern California, Dr. Lewinstein attended UCLA for undergraduate studies and USC for medical school. He completed general surgery training at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center before pursuing a vascular surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Lewinstein practiced general and vascular surgery in Southern California for five years before moving to Atlanta in 1992, where he narrowed his field exclusively to vascular surgery.
Over the ensuing decades, he broadened his practice to include diagnostic and therapeutic endovascular interventions, including stent graft treatment of aortic aneurysms, carotid artery stenting, complex lower extremity arterial interventions for limb salvage, as well as treatment of blockages in the intestinal and kidney arteries. More recently he has had a particular interest in transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR), an alternative technique to treating carotid artery blockeges.
Throughout this time he has also maintained an interest in the treatment of venous disease, utilizing multiple modalities in the treatment of varicose vein disease. Dr. Lewinstein has also participated in many nation-wide clinical investigations since 1997. Dr. Lewinstein continues to balance open surgical procedures, endovascular management of vascular disease, and medical management of arterial and venous problems in an effort to provide his patients with the optimal treatment for their vascular illness.
Dr. Lewinstein lives on Seabrook Island with his wife. He enjoys golf, travel, photography, and is an avid reader. He loves baseball and he and his son are on a quest to visit every professional ballpark in the country.
