Dr. Voss is a fellowship trained total joint surgeon currently practicing in Charleston, SC at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is originally from Indiana and received his undergraduate degree from Brown University in 1982. He studied Biochemistry as his major and played water polo. In 1986 he completed his medical training at Harvard Medical School. He completed two years of general surgery at the Brigham and Womens' Hospital and then 4 years of orthopaedic surgery residency in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program. A one-year fellowship in joint replacement at Rush Presbyterian in Chicago followed. For the first 29 years of practice, he worked for the USC School of Medicine in Columbia, SC. His practice has focused on hip and knee replacement surgery. He also performs osteotomies around the knee. He and his wife Tracy, an internist, moved their practices to MUSC in the Spring of 2022. Since 2003 he has been involved in coding for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He started out as the representative from the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons to the AAOS Coding and Reimbursement committee. Since 2016, he has served as the AAOS representative to the AMA Current Procedural Technology committee. There he helps present new codes and helps to define their utilization. He has a wife and 3 children and one grandchild. His avocations are swimming, triathlons, and games.

W. Michael Pullen, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon with a clinical focus in sports medicine. Dr. Pullen is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Prior to joining MUSC, Dr. Pullen served as an orthopaedic surgeon and Lieutenant Commander in the United Stated Navy. Dr. Pullen received his undergraduate degree from Christopher Newport University and his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. He then went on to complete his orthopaedic residency training at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. Following his residency training, he served as a staff orthopaedic surgeon in Yokosuka Japan as senior medical officer for the Department of Orthopedics. Following this, he was recruited to re-join the faculty at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth as a sports surgeon at the tertiary referral center and surgeon-training program. While there, he served as the assistant residency director and helped care for the east coast Naval Special Warfare (SEAL) team. Dr. Pullen also served as the sole orthopaedic surgeon on a 6-month humanitarian deployment on the USNS Comfort (Hospital Ship) in support of Operation Enduring Promise. There, he provided orthopaedic care in 14 countries in Central and South America. Finally, he completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Stanford University. Dr. Pullen has helped in the care of athletes of all levels, including high school, amateur, collegiate, professional, and Olympic athletes. Dr. Pullen is currently a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons (SOMOS), and the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters, presenting his research at local, national, and international meetings. His academic interests are in resident education and his research has focused on knee instability (ACL injury) and hip impingement. Dr. Pullen specializes in the advanced arthroscopic (minimally invasive) and open treatment of conditions of the shoulder, knee, and hip. He has considerable experience in shoulder instability, rotator cuff disorders, biceps disorders, meniscus injuries, cartilage injuries and restoration, knee ligament injuries including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI or hip impingement), and hip labral tears.

Brent A. Ponce, MD, is Professor and Vice Chair of Faculty Development in the MUSC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and PM\&R. He is from Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Cincinnati. He attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine on an Air Force scholarship and completed a surgical internship at Wright State University \& Wright Patterson Air Force Base. After serving as a flight surgeon in Columbus, Mississippi, he went to Boston, MA for orthopaedic surgery residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. He completed his shoulder fellowship at Harvard at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham \& Women's Hospitals under the mentorship of Drs. JP Warner and Peter Millett. He fulfilled his military commitment at the Air Force Academy where he also served as the team physician for the men's basketball program and was deployed to Iraq as part of OEF/OIF. In 2006, Dr. Ponce joined the faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he rose to Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Director of the Orthopaedic Skills Lab. In 2021, he joined the Hughston Clinic where he was Chair of Research for the Hughston Foundation. In October 2025, he joined the MUSC Shoulder and Elbow Service. Dr. Ponce currently serves as the Chair of AO Sports helping to educate surgeons all over the world. He is also the founder of the Collaborative of Orthopaedic Educational Research Group (COERG), a large multi-center collaborative focusing on resident education and faculty development research. Academically, Dr. Ponce has published \~200 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Ponce is a member of several orthopaedic societies including the: American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, and American Shoulder and Elbow Society. Dr. Ponce specializes in all conditions involving the shoulder including: fractures, arthritis/replacements, rotator cuff tears, and shoulder dislocations.

Dr. Alexei DeCastro completed his family medicine residency training at McLeod Health in Florence, South Carolina in 2005. He then served in the United States Air Force in both primary care and aerospace medicine at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana from 2005 to 2009. Dr. DeCastro deployed to Iraq in 2008 and served as the chief physician of the intermediate care ward in the busiest trauma center of the region. He still currently serves as a flight surgeon in the USAF Reserve at Joint Base Charleston. His main areas of interest are sports medicine, sports-related concussions, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and medical education. He also serves as team physician for the Charleston Battery, Charleston RiverDogs, College of Charleston athletics, SC Stingrays, and tournament physician for professional tennis with the WTA at the Volvo Car Open.
