As part of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, South Carolina's only NCI Designated Cancer Center, the MUSC Health Radiation Oncology team is committed to providing the best evidence-based care.
Patients are often faced with a difficult decision regarding cancer treatment using surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Using our multidisciplinary approach to cancer care, we will work to determine the best treatment recommendations and deliver the highest quality care. Our staff of physicians, nurses, physicists, dosimetrists, therapists and clinical support staff are ready to answer any questions you have. Joseph Ryan Miller, D.O.

About
Dr. Joseph Miller is a radiologist with subspecialty training in breast imaging. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency and breast imaging fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where he now serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology. Dr. Miller is passionate about delivering patient-centered, safe, and accurate imaging care. He brings a strong foundation in general radiology, complemented by expertise in breast cancer screening, diagnostic evaluation, and image-guided procedures. His clinical interests include the appropriate role of imaging after neoadjuvant therapy and multidisciplinary collaboration to optimize breast cancer care. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Miller is actively involved in medical student and resident education. He serves as the faculty mentor for MUSC's Radiology Interest Group and is dedicated to mentoring future radiologists through teaching, curriculum development, and career advising.

Stephanie Myers, M.D.

About
Dr. Stephanie Myers is a radiation oncologist with a focus on gastrointestinal, pediatric, and hematologic malignancies. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and obtained her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. Following medical school, she completed her internship at Atrium Health Navicent before going on to complete her residency in radiation oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year of training. During her training, Dr. Myers gained experience in a variety of radiation techniques, including stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and hypofractionated radiotherapy, as well as other special procedures. Following completion of her residency, she joined the faculty at MUSC in 2025. Dr. Myers is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of each patient. She is especially passionate about patient education and takes pride in helping individuals understand their diagnosis and treatment options. Her compassionate, collaborative approach ensures that patients and their families feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their journey.

Bhishamjit Singh Chera, M.D.

Bhisham Chera, M.D., is a board-certified radiation oncologist, Vice Chairman for Safety and Quality Assurance in the Department of Radiation Oncology, and the Wendy \& Keith Wellin Endowed Chair in Radiation Oncology. His primary clinical emphasis is in the treatment of head and neck, and skin cancers.
Dr. Chera's academic interests are in head and neck oncology and health care quality and safety improvement. He is nationally and internationally known for his pioneering work in evaluating reduced intensity radiation and chemotherapy treatments for patients with human papillomavirus (HPV) associated with throat cancers. He has also co-invented a blood-based biomarker for HPV-associated cancers.
As of 2022, Dr. Chera has published over 100 manuscripts, ten book chapters, presented his research at over 100 national meetings, and has given 70 invited talks. His contributions to the field of patient safety and quality improvement include 22 publications, membership on the Radiation Oncology Health Advisory Committee, and serving as an international expert for the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Emily Ryttse is a nurse practitioner in Radiation Medicine at Hollings Cancer Center.
Emily is originally from Tampa, Florida and earned her BSN at the University of Florida in 2017. Upon graduation Emily worked as a pediatric oncology nurse for four years. Emily then transitioned to infusion for adult oncology patients and received her MSN from the University of South Florida in 2023. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Emily enjoys forming trusting relationships with her patients and families and looks forward to doing so here at MUSC.

Jennifer Lynn Harper, M.D.
Breast Cancer
About
Dr. Jennifer Harper is a radiation oncologist, certified by the American Board of Radiology. Her primary focus is in the treatment of breast cancer, sarcoma, and head and neck cancer. She also is credentialed in the use of Gamma Knife radiosurgery, with interests in its application for the treatment of brain metastasis. In the field of breast cancer, Dr. Harper has published extensively on the topic of accelerated partial breast irradiation. In 2016, she has developed a group wellness program, in collaboration with the MUSC Wellness Center, for breast cancer survivors. This ongoing program, known as The Survivors' Fit Club, seeks to facilitate the healing of mind body and spirit following breast cancer treatment.
Dr. Harper is also a passionate medical educator. Her teaching efforts have been recognized with an award by the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology. She has also received an MUSC Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award following nomination by medical students. She is also the Physician Representative for the Medical Physic Residency Program. She serves as the Department of Radiation Oncology's Quality Assurance (QA) Medical Director and has incorporated QA and medical education instruction into the residency curriculum.

David Marshall, M.D., MS
Gastrointestinal Cancer
About
Dr. David Marshall is a board-certified radiation oncologist, specializing in genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancers. He has been recognized by Castle Connolly as a Top Doctor in radiation oncology from 2016 to present.
Dr. Marshall has published widely in GI and GU cancers and has brought innovative treatment options to the people of South Carolina, including Y-90 microsphere therapy and radiosurgical treatment for liver cancers, and new techniques using linked/stranded seeds for prostate cancer patients. In addition, Dr. Marshall is interested in the development of novel ways of improving accuracy of radiotherapy using new immobilization and image-guided techniques.
Dr. Marshall is the chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology. He has been at MUSC for more than 15 years. He is also the associate director of the radiation oncology resident training program at MUSC, and enjoys working with residents to both improve the care of his patients and educate future radiation oncologists.
He also functions as the medical director for the Clinical Trials Office at the Hollings Cancer Center, an NCI-designated cancer center. He is active in several national scientific and professional organizations, including: the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the American College of Radiation Oncology, the American Brachytherapy Society, the Southwestern Oncology Group (SWOG); and NRG Oncology.

Dr. Samuel Cooper is a board-certified radiation oncologist specializing in gynecological, pediatric and hematological cancers. He has brought innovative treatments to the people of South Carolina. He has also been instrumental in developing programs for MR guided interstitial brachytherapy for gynecologic malignancies, eye plaque brachytherapy for ocular tumors, interstitial brachytherapy for keloids and breath hold treatments for lymphomas of the chest and abdominal radiosurgery. Charlotte Ivey Rivers, M.D.

Dr. Charlotte Rivers is a board-certified radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of central nervous system, hematological, and skin cancers. She is experienced in the use of Gamma Knife radiosurgery for the treatment of brain metastases, as well as other conditions including meningiomas, arteriovenous malformations, acoustic neuromas, and trigeminal neuralgia. Dr. Rivers serves as a member of the multi-disciplinary central nervous system team, and works closely with neuro-oncology and neurosurgery in the treatment of patients with primary brain tumors. She also works in coordination with the hematology teams to provide total body irradiation (TBI) for both adult and pediatric patients needing bone marrow transplants.
Dr. Rivers has published clinical research in the field of Gamma Knife radiosurgery which has been presented at several national and international conferences. She joined the team at MUSC in 2019, and is happy to be back in her home state to help bring the best care possible to the people of South Carolina. She is passionate about teaching and is very involved in resident education.

Harriet Belding Eldredge-Hindy, M.D.

Dr. Harriet Eldredge-Hindy specializes in caring for patients with gynecologic, breast, and genitourinary malignancies. She attended college at Georgetown University and then obtained a medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. After medical school, she completed an internal medicine internship in the Mainline Health System and then completed radiation oncology residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Her residency training was enriched by specialized rotations in pediatric radiation oncology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis and gynecologic malignancies at Barnes Jewish Hospital of Washington University in St. Louis. Following this, she worked at the D'Amour Center for Cancer Care of Baystate Medical Center as a general radiation oncologist with a focus on breast, prostate, and gynecologic cancers. She later transitioned to the Brown Cancer Center/Louisville CyberKnife at the University of Louisville where she focused on treating breast, gynecologic, and gastrointestinal malignancies.
