Dr. Gunter is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering. He completed his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He then completed an internship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and a neurological surgery residency at the University of Tennessee College of Health Sciences in Memphis. He also achieved basic and Perfexion™ Gamma Knife® certification. He is currently an international faculty trainer for two cervical disc replacement devices and is involved in FDA clinical trials. With more than 20 years of neurosurgical experience, Dr. Gunter is highly skilled to provide comprehensive care for disorders of the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. He is an international teaching faculty for cervical disc replacement. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. Ethan Lam, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant that was born and raised in Simpsonville, SC. He studied at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2021. He previously worked within endocrinology and pain management as a medical assistant, before obtaining his Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2025. Ethan is passionate about providing up-to-date evidence based care, community building, and is excited to return to Columbia to serve the Midlands community.
