Dr. Jaime L. Martínez Santos completed his neurosurgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Before returning to MUSC, Dr. Martínez completed accredited fellowship training in complex cranial neurosurgery including neuro-oncology, skull base, and cerebrovascular neurosurgery at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Dr. Martínez's expertise and clinical interests include surgery of primary and metastatic brain tumors (including complex brain tumors involving deep and highly functional regions), skull base tumors (meningiomas, vestibular schwannomas, chordomas, chondrosarcomas, pituitary tumors, etc.), vascular pathologies such as cerebral aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cavernous malformations, arteriovenous fistulae, carotid stenosis (i.e., microsurgical endarterectomies), moyamoya disease, and cerebrovascular microsurgical bypass. Dr. Martínez is a passionate anatomist and neuroanatomist with numerous years of teaching experience and scientific publications. His main research interests include microsurgical anatomy, and surgical simulation and education. In Dr. Martínez's anatomy and microsurgical skills laboratory, medical students, neurosurgery residents, and fellows can learn comprehensive anatomy and neuroanatomy and hone their microsurgical skills. This opportunity will be available for international neurosurgeons and trainees in the form of courses, post-doctoral fellowships, and observerships. Dr. Martínez is involved in numerous professional organizations including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS).

Dr Wilson is a Fellowship-trained Complex Spine Neurosurgeon and Clinician Scientist with an interest in Aging and Frailty as it relates to Degenerative Spine Disease. His clinical interests focus on the surgical treatment for all aspects of degenerative spine disease including cervical myelopathy, cervical radiculopathy, lumbar and thoracic disc disease, adult spinal deformity and revision spine surgery. Dr Wilson incorporates the newest and most effective technology, such as Robotic Spine Surgery and AI-driven custom spine implants, to maximize the outcomes of his patients. Dr. Wilson graduated medicine from the University of Oxford, UK before completing his residency at Leeds Teaching Hospitals in the North of England. During his 2 year Complex Spine Fellowship at the University of Toronto Dr Wilson earned a reputation for research in the effects of old age on the outcomes after spine surgery. He has won multiple research awards and grants, written book chapters on spine surgery and presents regularly at national meetings for the North American Spine Society, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons (Spine Section) and Cervical Spine Research Society. Prior to joining MUSC, Dr Wilson served as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Nathan Rowland received his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Emory University. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in neurological surgery at University of California, San Francisco. He pursued additional fellowship training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. His clinical interests include Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, as well as psychiatric disorders such as treatment resistant depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and anorexia. Additionally, he is interested in degenerative spinal disorders, neuro-trauma, and neuro-oncology. Dr. Rowland has a strong research interest in brain circuit disorders amenable to deep brain stimulation and other advanced neuromodulation techniques. In addition to his Ph.D. training, he has experience in conducting translational research projects focused on patients with movement and psychiatric disorders.
