He will also serve as Clinical Director for Surgical Oncology at the Hollings Cancer Center, working closely with the Hollings ICCE leadership to grow these key clinical areas. A nationally recognized leader in surgical oncology, Dr. Roggin has served two three-year terms on the Executive Council of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) and as Chair of the SSO Training Committee. He has over 18 years of experience as a surgical educator at the University of Chicago Medicine, including 12 years as the General Surgery Program Director. In 2019, he was honored with the inaugural Program Director of the Year Award. He is a Master Educator in the Academy of Medical Educators at the Pritzker School of Medicine, a member of the Gold Humanism and Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Societies, was named as a Senior Faculty Scholar in the Bucksbaum Institute for Clinical Excellence, and won the UC Biological Sciences Division Distinguished Educator Award in 2015.
