MUSC Children's Health University Pediatrics - Northwoods

Dr. Khawaja is a board-certified pediatrician who provides comprehensive care for children from newborns through 18 years of age. She is passionate about partnering with families to support children's health and development at every stage. Dr. Khawaja grew up in Charleston and completed her medical school education and pediatric residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She is proud to care for children and families in the community she calls home. Her clinical interests include newborn and infant care, lactation support, and the prevention and management of childhood obesity. She takes a lifestyle medicine-based approach to pediatrics, emphasizing healthy nutrition, movement, sleep, and sustainable habits that promote lifelong wellness.

Dr. Anna Dunn Hoffius is the Northwoods Resident Rotation Director and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at MUSC Children's Care, Northwoods. She graduated from MUSC in 2011 after taking a year in medical school to complete an internship with the Centre for Infectious Disease Research-Zambia, focusing on Quality Improvement Initiatives within the Ministry of Health. She then completed a Community Pediatric Residency at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. She has worked at MUSC Children's Health Northwoods since 2015. As a clinician, she loves the opportunity to work with the diverse population that Northwoods serves and is particularly focused on improving access, care for uninsured, mental health, autism, LGBTQ care, sexual health, and family-centered care. She loves helping learners find their passion and personal styles in primary care. She is the Lead Clinician for MUSC Children's Health University Pediatrics on QTIP, a state-wide pediatric quality improvement initiative that implements annual improvement projects and frequent PDSA cycles.

Dr. Luke E. Edmondson is a general pediatrician with a clinical focus on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He obtained his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia and completed a special residency program focused on primary care pediatric practice at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Amy Williams is an Assistant Professor in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program at The Medical University of South Carolina. She received her BSN, MSN to become a pediatric nurse practitioner, and DNP from The Medical University of South Carolina. She is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. Dr. Williams has practiced pediatric nursing since beginning her career, first as a bedside nurse in an infant and toddler unit, then as a nurse practitioner both in pediatric pulmonology and pediatric primary care, where she still maintains an active practice. Dr. Williams is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB). She currently provides primary care for pediatric patients at MUSC University Pediatrics- Northwoods in North Charleston, South Carolina. The clinic has a large Spanish-speaking population and Dr. Williams speaks Spanish in her practice. Dr. Williams serves on the board of PASOs, a statewide Latino advocacy organization. She weaves her clinical and advocacy knowledge into her teaching in the DNP program. Dr. Williams is known for being active in healthcare policy work both at the national level through her professional organization, the National Association of Nurse Practitioners and at the state level, in early childhood care. She is an appointed trustee for South Carolina First Steps to School Readiness where she fills the only healthcare provider seat, working alongside members of the South Carolina General Assembly and state agency heads to ensure all of South Carolina's children are as prepared for Kindergarten as possible through available, evidenced-based early childhood educational programs. She is the recipient of a Duke foundation grant to promote school preparedness in the Latino community and the provider champion for Zero to Three's Healthy Steps initiative in her clinic. She is interested in healthcare policy and advocacy, childhood obesity, childhood asthma, infant, child and adolescent development, and promoting culturally effective healthcare. She is a recipient of the DAISY award for extraordinary nurses, the Palmetto Gold Award is a JONAS scholar.

A native of Charlotte, NC, Carol Jones, M.D., is a board-certified pediatrician who provides primary care services to patients from birth to 18 years of age. Dr. Jones earned her medical degree from Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She then completed residency training in pediatric medicine at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Dr. Jones is accepting new patients at MUSC Children's Health University Pediatrics - Northwoods. Her clinical interests include breastfeeding medicine and underserved populations.

Dr. Zweigoron is the assistant program director for the Primary Care Residency Program. She divides her time between clinical practice at the MUSC Children's University Pediatrics Northwoods clinic, precepting residents in continuity clinic, and non-clinical responsibilities. She graduated from medical school at MUSC in 2006 before training in pediatrics at UNC Chapel Hill and Lutheran General Children's Hospital. She subsequently completed a General Academic Pediatrics fellowship at the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Her interests include community pediatrics, primary care delivery, underserved populations, lactation/newborn care and medical education. She and her husband have three children.

Lead Physician and Community Faculty at MUSC Children's Care, Northwoods, Dr. Lemon is a Board Certified Pediatrician who spent three years in group private practice where he supervised ambulatory Pediatric resident training as a clinical preceptor for the University of South Carolina (USC) Pediatric Residency Program in Columbia, SC. He served as the Vice Chief of Pediatrics for Lexington Medical Center (Lexington, S.C.) and was responsible for Pediatric Quality Improvement initiatives and case reviews. He completed his Masters in Clinical Research from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston with clinical and teaching responsibilities for Medical Students and Pediatric Residents as an Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics. He became Medical Director for MUSC Children's Care Clinics, a Medical Home initiative. He continues to instruct and supervise 3rd-year Medical Students through outpatient clinical rotations and 3rd-year Pediatric Residents during advocacy electives. From Dr. Lemon and his staff physicians, the Primary Care residents learn how to provide culturally effective care, write program grants to support community outreach, and how to participate in practice-based research and quality improvement while also maintaining a busy practice.
