John Hayden Jr., MD, is a dedicated and board-certified family medicine physician. With a career spanning over two decades, he has built lasting relationships with his patients, providing them with personalized treatment that focuses on both prevention and long-term wellness. A South Carolina native, Dr. Hayden earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine after first obtaining a degree in pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina. This dual background allows him to take a well-rounded approach to patient care, seamlessly integrating medication management with primary and preventive healthcare strategies. During his residency at Palmetto Richland Hospital, he served as co-chief resident, refining both his clinical expertise and leadership skills. Dr. Hayden's career has taken him through various medical settings, including private practice, emergency medicine, and family care, giving him a broad perspective on patient treatment across different stages of life. Since 2009, he has been a trusted provider at MUSC Health Primary Care- Carolina Avenue, where he is known for his warm bedside manner, attention to detail, and dedication to helping patients achieve their best health. He takes pride in caring for multiple generations within the same families, forming meaningful connections with the community he serves. Outside of work, Dr. Hayden enjoys playing golf and cheering on the Clemson University Tigers.
