He is an expert in minimally invasive arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder and elbow. He has expertise in advanced shoulder and elbow reconstructive surgery, including shoulder replacement surgery, rotator cuff tear surgery, shoulder instability and labral tear surgery, elbow arthroscopy, and elbow ligament reconstruction and repair. Dr. Rogalski's practice leverages advanced imaging modalities to create personalized treatment plans for shoulder and elbow reconstructive surgery. He uses cutting-edge techniques for sports injuries, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), ultrasound, and up-and-coming physical therapy and rehabilitation techniques such as blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy and cryotherapy. Dr. Rogalski attended Washington University in St. Louis, where he received his B.A. and graduated with honors in the Department of Political Science. While at Washington University, he played on both the varsity football and baseball teams, where he was a two-time NCAA All-American and Academic All-American pitcher and outfielder. He then completed medical school at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society and graduated in the top of his class, earning multiple academic awards. Dr. Rogalski completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Rothman Orthopedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA where he worked closely with the team doctors taking care of the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL), Phillies (MLB) and 76ers (NBA). Following residency, he completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Columbia University in New York City. The fellowship, founded in 1977 by Dr. Charles S. Neer II, is honored as the first and most prestigious program of its kind in the world. During his fellowship, he served as a Fellow Team Physician with the New York Yankees (MLB) baseball team, where he worked directly with the Head Team Physician, Dr. Christopher Ahmad, assessing and operating on numerous professional athletes throughout the year. Dr. Rogalski's special areas of interest include total joint replacement surgery of the shoulder and elbow; surgical and non-surgical treatment of all shoulder and elbow disorders; sports medicine for overhead and throwing athletes, including baseball, softball, tennis, track \& field, and golf; and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and scapula. He also has expertise in revision surgery for previously failed shoulder and elbow procedures and proficiency in treating upper extremity fractures, including the proximal humerus, collarbone (clavicle), scapula, humerus, elbow, and forearm. Dr. Rogalski has a passion for research and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on various topics related to shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine surgery. Dr. Rogalski's ongoing research is focused on improving patient outcomes by improving the longevity and durability of shoulder arthroplasty implants, identifying and minimizing the effect of shoulder prosthetic joint infections, and improving ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) surgery outcomes in throwing athletes. He is an active and engaged member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES).

Prior to joining MUSC, Dr. Pullen served as an orthopaedic surgeon and Lieutenant Commander in the United Stated Navy. Dr. Pullen received his undergraduate degree from Christopher Newport University and his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. He then went on to complete his orthopaedic residency training at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. Following his residency training, he served as a staff orthopaedic surgeon in Yokosuka Japan as senior medical officer for the Department of Orthopedics. Following this, he was recruited to re-join the faculty at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth as a sports surgeon at the tertiary referral center and surgeon-training program. While there, he served as the assistant residency director and helped care for the east coast Naval Special Warfare (SEAL) team. Dr. Pullen also served as the sole orthopaedic surgeon on a 6-month humanitarian deployment on the USNS Comfort (Hospital Ship) in support of Operation Enduring Promise. There, he provided orthopaedic care in 14 countries in Central and South America. Finally, he completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Stanford University. Brent A. Ponce, MD, is Professor and Vice Chair of Faculty Development in the MUSC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and PM\&R. He is from Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Cincinnati. He attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine on an Air Force scholarship and completed a surgical internship at Wright State University \& Wright Patterson Air Force Base. After serving as a flight surgeon in Columbus, Mississippi, he went to Boston, MA for orthopaedic surgery residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. He completed his shoulder fellowship at Harvard at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham \& Women's Hospitals under the mentorship of Drs. JP Warner and Peter Millett. He fulfilled his military commitment at the Air Force Academy where he also served as the team physician for the men's basketball program and was deployed to Iraq as part of OEF/OIF. In 2006, Dr. Ponce joined the faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he rose to Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Director of the Orthopaedic Skills Lab. In 2021, he joined the Hughston Clinic where he was Chair of Research for the Hughston Foundation. In October 2025, he joined the MUSC Shoulder and Elbow Service. Dr. Ponce currently serves as the Chair of AO Sports helping to educate surgeons all over the world. He is also the founder of the Collaborative of Orthopaedic Educational Research Group (COERG), a large multi-center collaborative focusing on resident education and faculty development research. Academically, Dr. Ponce has published \~200 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Ponce is a member of several orthopaedic societies including the: American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, and American Shoulder and Elbow Society. Friedman, M.D. FRCSC, is chief of shoulder and elbow surgery and professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and an adjunct professor of bioengineering at Clemson University. He was formerly the chairman of the department of orthopaedic surgery and medical director of the joint replacement program at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Friedman received his M.D. degree in 1980 from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and completed residencies in surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and in orthopedic surgery at the Harvard combined orthopedic residency program in Boston. He also completed a clinical fellowship in surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore as well as clinical fellowships in surgery and orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Friedman is board certified in orthopedic surgery. A former member of the North American and International Hip and Knee Registry steering committees as well as a former consultant to the orthopedic device review panel of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Friedman is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a member of the American Orthopaedic Association, Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and Elbow, among others. He is a reviewer for Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and Journal of Knee Surgery. Dr. Friedman also serves on the American Medical Association CPT advisory committee as well as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons CPT coding committee. Dr. Friedman was the founder of the orthopaedic research laboratory at MUSC and has received over 50 research grants. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles in such journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, Orthopedic Clinics of North America, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Journal of Orthopaedic Research. Dr. Friedman has also written numerous book chapters and had over 150 scientific abstracts published. He has presented nationally and internationally at over 500 medical conferences. Dr. Friedman's special areas of interest focus on total joint replacement, including hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow; shoulder and elbow disorders and sports medicine; and arthroscopic surgery.
