Dr. Akif Ahmad is a board-certified family medicine physician who has practiced in his medical specialty since 2009. Fluent in English, Hindu and Urdu, Dr. Ahmad earned his medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences in Pakistan, where he began his medical career after graduating in 2003. He went on to complete his family medicine residency at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Ahmad has provided comprehensive family medicine care to the Tampa Bay area community since 2015. Before joining Tampa General Medical Group, he treated patients at Evara Health (formerly known as Community Health Centers of Pinellas) in St. Petersburg. Meanwhile, he served as a clinical assistant professor and clinical preceptor for medical students at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Ahmad was also a clinical preceptor for medical students at the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville after moving to the United States from Pakistan to begin his family medicine career.

I felt like I was in good hands. Dr. Ahmad was Knowledgeable and wanted to help with my every day allergy symptoms as well as my initial ear pain. Really listened to me, the patient which is rare for me. He wanted to hear back from me if the new allergy medication worked. Dr. Ahmad was kind. I would visit this office again on this one quality if his alone. Accompanied by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the office I would 100% recommend!

Dr Ahmad went over some of the findings from my TGH inpatient stay in September. Being sick, I got some things confused and he straightened them out of me and also gave me clear guidance on how to monitor my glucose. He took the time to teach me what to do for the next month to get the best readings of my glucose so we can review and discuss the information during my one-month follow-up. I really like Dr Ahmad. His quiet, thoughtful, deliberate and the communication he and his team provide me through the portal is incredibly helpful.
