Dr. Akif Ahmad is a board-certified family medicine physician who has practiced in his medical specialty since 2009. Fluent in English, Hindu and Urdu, Dr. Ahmad earned his medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences in Pakistan, where he began his medical career after graduating in 2003. He went on to complete his family medicine residency at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Ahmad has provided comprehensive family medicine care to the Tampa Bay area community since 2015. Before joining Tampa General Medical Group, he treated patients at Evara Health (formerly known as Community Health Centers of Pinellas) in St. Petersburg. Meanwhile, he served as a clinical assistant professor and clinical preceptor for medical students at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Ahmad was also a clinical preceptor for medical students at the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville after moving to the United States from Pakistan to begin his family medicine career.

I liked how Dr. Ahmad explained things scientifically. Being neurodivergent, I have to be hit over the head with an explanation, or I don't always understand.

My doctor is the best, hard to see a doctor who is not in a hurry or cold, or treat you like a number. He is warm, professional, friendly, not in a hurry or rush, ask all the right questions, recommends as needed, he is great.

I felt like I was in good hands. Dr. Ahmad was Knowledgeable and wanted to help with my every day allergy symptoms as well as my initial ear pain. Really listened to me, the patient which is rare for me. He wanted to hear back from me if the new allergy medication worked. Dr. Ahmad was kind. I would visit this office again on this one quality if his alone. Accompanied by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the office I would 100% recommend!

Thanks to Dr Akif concerns for a fast turnaround for my medical care, I proceeded to TGH Urgent Care as he suggested. With my quick results, I returned home with my anxiety intact.

He is an exceptional physician whose clinical expertise is complemented by an extraordinary bedside manner. I've been a patient of Dr.Akif for 3 years, and I truly appreciate the care and attention I've received. Dr. Akif always takes the time to listen, explains everything clearly, and never rushes through appointments. I feel like my health is in good hands. Whether it's a routine checkup or something more serious, they've always been supportive and professional. The staff is also kind and helpful, and scheduling is usually easy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I've been blessed with good primary care physicians at TGH at the Kennedy location. Dr. Akif Ahmad is thorough, genuine, and prioritizes patient-centered care, involving me, as the patient, at each step. Kindness and detail when explaining things. I'm forever grateful to him and TGH and all who work to help me maintain (and improve) my health. Kuddos to TGH for finding such wonderful care providers in our physician team. Dr Ahmad was kind and courteous. He listened to my concerns and was in agreement with my recommendations for my plan of care. My only concern is that they require physicians to do point of care documenting so he was very busy documenting, and I felt like he could not listen fully. Otherwise, Dr. Ahmed is amazing so nothing against him. I just feel like the providers aren't unable to spend quality time with their patients.
