Esmeralda Young is a nurse practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She graduated from St. Petersburg College with a degree in nursing and received her master of science degree in nursing from South University.

Prior to joining Tampa General Medical Group, Esmeralda worked in Tampa General's Medical and Surgical Oncology Unit providing acute nursing care to medical, surgical and oncology patients. Most recently, she practiced with the Community Health Centers of Pinellas in St. Petersburg, FL, providing primary care services and working to maintain continuity of care for patients by establishing diagnosis and treatment of common acute and chronic illness with health promotion and disease prevention.

Esmeralda is a member of the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network, Tampa Bay Advanced Practice Nurses Council, West Coast Council of Advanced Nursing Practices and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Esmeralda treats patients 18 years of age and older.

Dr Esmeralda Young is a very caring and taking time to work with my daughter. She is special need adult and loves Dr Young. E. Young, APRN was very helpful and resourceful. I shared with her the difficulty I was having in scheduling an appt. She literally took out her own phone and made the call, waited the duration of the on hold until someone answered. Absolutely phenomenal - thanks again

I try to be as reasonable as possible but I advise to please listen to the recording of our conversation and let me know your thoughts. She interrupted me multiple times and made assumptions so I had to correct her misunderstandings a couple of times since this all is part of my clinical notes. My interaction with her made me flustered and there was a point where I failed to recall my gynecologist but then remembered when she asked about a recent pap smear. It seemed like she didn't even look at my medical history before talking to me. Even during the physical exam I felt like she barely checked me because when she listened to my lungs i don't recall her asking me to take a deep breath (not sure if that's still the standard). I think she needs practice listening patiently to patients and then asking clarification questions without making assumptions while asking the questions.
