Dr. Jorge Agi is a dual trained ophthalmologist specializing in ocular oncology, oculoplastics and orbital surgery. He received his medical degree from the Federal University of Goias, Brazil. Upon completion of medical school, he completed an ophthalmology residency and oculoplastics fellowship at the Santa Casa School of Medicine in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He subsequently completed additional fellowships in oculoplastics/orbital surgery and ocular oncology in Canada. Prior to joining USF Health, Dr. Agi practiced in Sao Paulo and was a faculty member at the Santa Casa School of Medicine. As part of this region’s only academic medical center, Dr. Agi is committed to academia through education and research. He is an assistant professor in the department of ophthalmology and is dedicated to training the next generation of medical students and residents. His research interests include ocular oncology and orbital disease. He has authored numerous peer reviewed publications and book chapters. Additionally, he has participated in national multicenter trials and has presented at national and international conferences.

Dr. Jorge Agi and his assistant were very gentle with their ministrations. When I questioned whether they checked under my eyelid, Dr. Agi did the procedure again to reassure me and make sure he didn't miss anything amiss. The team was extremely tender with how they handled me (i.e., helping me by holding my head in place on the machine). The assistant was very attentive by taking and placing my belongings on the table so that I don't have to hold onto so much. If I have another problem arise, I'd like to come to this institute again for treatment.

Dr Jorge Agi was great. He made me feel comfortable and explained what he was doing as he did the procedure. At no point other than the local anesthetic (which barely hurt thanks to surgeon precision hands), did the procedure hurt. And he confirmed with me several times before beginning the actual removal of my chalazion. Hopefully I don't have this issue again, but if I do there is not another surgeon I'd want doing the procedure.
