Dr. Karyn Gerstle is a dedicated general pediatrician who specializes in nutrition and lactation medicine. She is a board certified lactation consultant and is available to work with families for visits that include well child care and breastfeeding support. She also helps to coordinate the healthy lifestyle program at USF, which includes a series of visits that provides support for children experiencing obesity, metabolic syndrome, or lifestyle factors such as stress that impact overall wellbeing. In addition to her clinical experience, she also has a passion for medical education and serves as faculty for the USF Pediatric Residency Program, and as the Pediatric Medicine Clerkship Director for the Morsani College of Medicine.

Dr. Gerstle provided engaged and empathetic listening. As first time parents, she reassured us of all our concerns and also helped me with breastfeeding. My husband I left the appointment feeling more confident, at ease, and capable as parents.

First of all I adore Dr.Gerstle. My baby had a rough start in his newborn stage and first year of life due to severe acid reflux and other side affects, and had so many doctors (all which were great btw) but once we encountered dr gerstle I specifically requested she be our forever doctor. She is extremely knowledgeable/professional, gentle and kind, and genuinely cares about both of my children. She always addresses my concerns thoroughly and educates me and makes me feel at ease when im worried about my baby. I wish i could just pick up the phone and call the office easily and hate that i have to go through the usf telephone system and wait for a call back, so the ease of telephone access is not great. My chart is excellent and the nurses and doctors are very attentive, but sometimes i need an answer immediately vs waiting a few hours. Aside from this, i love usf pediatrics, ive been coming here for 5 years and will continue even though its far from us.
