Samuel Marcus, MD, is a British-trained gastroenterologist. He diagnoses and treats conditions of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, small and large bowel, liver, gallbladder and pancreas. He also has a particular interest and expertise in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, as well as in the prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer.Dr. Marcus is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterological Association. He maintains active membership in the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and British Society of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Marcus has held teaching positions at prestigious medical schools. He currently serves as an adjunct professor of Clinical Medicine at Stanford University.
After graduating from the University of Liverpool School of Medicine in England, Dr. Marcus completed a four-year residency in internal medicine followed by a six-year fellowship in gastroenterology. This includes a dedicated research fellowship at the University of Bristol Medical School where he earned his PhD. He then completed advanced subspecialty training in gastroenterology in Liverpool and went on to continue his academic work in the United States as a postgraduate research fellow at the University of California, San Diego.
