Dr. Mungara is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon at USF Health, providing expert care for patients with complex cardiothoracic and vascular conditions. His clinical expertise includes coronary artery bypass surgery and revascularization, valvular heart disease, aortic disorders, atrial fibrillation and minimally invasive cardiac procedures. He serves as assistant professor in the division of cardiothoracic surgery and transplantation, where he is dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of cardiovascular surgeons. Dr. Mungara earned his medical degree from the Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences at the University of Mysore, India. He went on to complete his general surgery residency at Carraway Methodist Medical Center and the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics followed by a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics. Prior to joining USF Health, Dr. Mungara served as Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Medical Director of the Heart and Vein Institute at Monument Health in Rapid City, South Dakota. As an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Dr. Mungara has contributed to numerous research initiatives, publications and national presentations focused on advancing the field of cardiothoracic surgery.
