Donald Wayne Bowers, FNP

Donald W. Bowers, Jr. (D.J.) FNP-BC is a dedicated health care professional with a wealth of experience and expertise in emergency medicine. As a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Division Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Director in Emergency Medicine, Donald brings a comprehensive skill set and a commitment to excellence in patient care.

D.J.'s educational journey began at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May 2010. During his undergraduate studies, he consistently demonstrated academic excellence, earning a place on the Dean's Honor List and actively participating in the Student Nurses Association. Building on this foundation, he pursued his Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Family Nurse Practitioner at South University in Savannah, GA, graduating in August 2015 and once again earning recognition on the Dean's Honor List.

With a passion for emergency medicine, D.J. has extensive clinical experience from working in several emergency departments all across the state over the last 14 years. His commitment to patient care led him to advance his career as a Family Nurse Practitioner, providing care in emergency departments at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center and MUSC Health Chester Medical Center, among others.

Throughout his career, D.J. has remained actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the National Student Nurses Association, and the Emergency Nurses Association. He holds several certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and NIH Stroke Certification, and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
