Lauren Tapp, MD, MSCR

Dr. Lauren G. Tapp is a pediatric hospitalist who cares for infants, children, and adolescents during their hospital stay. She is dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based treatment while helping families understand their child's illness and medical care every step of the way. Dr. Tapp's clinical interests include helping children receive the right tests and treatments while avoiding unnecessary procedures. She works closely with pediatric specialists and other members of the health care team to coordinate care for children with both common and complex medical conditions. She also has a special interest in improving communication and safety as children move between different areas of the hospital, including the emergency department, intensive care unit, and inpatient units. In addition to her medical training, Dr. Tapp earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR). This advanced training helps her evaluate the latest medical evidence and apply research findings to improve patient outcomes. Her research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric infections, and she is committed to using data and evidence-based practices to provide the best possible care for children. Families appreciate Dr. Tapp's collaborative approach and commitment to clear communication. She believes that parents and caregivers are essential members of the care team and strives to ensure that every family feels informed, heard, and involved in decisions about their child's health. Dr. Tapp earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her pediatrics residency and served as chief resident at Wake Forest before returning to the Medical University of South Carolina for fellowship training. As a South Carolina native, she is proud to care for children and families across her home state.
