Lindsay Michelle Wiles, MD

Lindsay Wiles, MD, DABFM, DABOM, is a TGMG physician, board certified in both Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine offering expert comprehensive obesity treatment services. Dr. Wiles is the Medical Director at the TGH USF Bariatric Center specializing in High-Risk Obesity Medicine. Dr. Wiles goal is to help each patient achieve significant improvement in their metabolic health through an evidence-based comprehensive approach with medication, nutrition, exercise and behavior change. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Missouri-Columbia, with a focus on rural medicine. She then completed her medical residency at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, SC, with a focus on rural medicine. Dr. Wiles practiced primary care in rural Abbeville, SC for 6 years before joining Riverview Family Medicine in 2011. In 2014, Dr. Wiles joined TGMG Fishhawk and practiced there for 5 years before transitioning to full-time obesity medicine in 2019 with the Bariatric Center.

As an Obesity Medicine physician, Dr. Wiles has helped to grow the TGH USF Bariatric Center's Obesity Medicine program. With the needs of the hospital and community in mind, she has created the first High-Risk Obesity Medicine practice in the area, which focuses on serving those patients with the highest morbidity and mortality related to the disease of Obesity. Dr. Wiles is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as well as The Obesity Society, The American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Obesity Medicine Association where she served on the Bariatric Medical-Surgical Committee. Dr. Wiles knew she wanted to become a doctor since a young age. She went into Family Medicine because she enjoyed treating the complexity of the entire patient. Now as an Obesity Medicine physician she loves the opportunity to help the patient understand the metabolic disease of Obesity and empower them to improve their overall health through incorporating evidence-based medications and lifestyle interventions to help prevent and treat complications related to Obesity. In her free time, Dr. Wiles enjoys taking care of the animals on her farm, gardening and spending time with her husband and four children.
