Lisa A. Smith, D.O.

Lisa A. Smith, D.O., is a board-certified pathologist at MUSC Health in Columbia. She plays an essential role in patient care by examining laboratory samples and helping physicians make accurate diagnoses that guide treatment decisions.





Dr. Smith earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences and completed advanced specialty training in pathology at leading medical centers across the country. Her training includes focused experience in surgical pathology, cytopathology, and placental pathology, allowing her to provide thorough and precise diagnostic evaluations.





Before joining MUSC Health, Dr. Smith practiced in Texas, where she cared for patients at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital and worked closely with clinical teams across multiple hospital systems. She also served as a physician leader in hospital laboratories, helping ensure high standards of quality and patient safety.





Dr. Smith is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and cytopathology. She is committed to accuracy, collaboration, and compassionate care, working behind the scenes to support patients and their healthcare teams.





She is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the American Society of Cytopathology.
