Dr. Taunk grew up Pinellas County and went to medical school at the University of Miami. He completed his internal medicine residency and GI fellowship training at Boston University Medical Center. He then went on to perform one additional year of specialized training in Interventional Endoscopy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He decided to return home to USF/TGH after completing his training in 2015. Since being on faculty at USF, he has helped start an advanced endoscopy fellowship and has taken a keen interest in performing complex interventional EUS procedures.

DrTaunk, is one of the absolute best Drs we've' ever had! Our family is forever grateful for him being so diligent and supportive and helping us when other Drs through he years honesty were unable* to help when I had severe SOD pain for years*. The SOD surgery DrTaunk previously performed was life* changing*, DrTaunk has wonderful bedside manner, is kind, and efficient we honestly cannot say enough to adequately describe our thanks and appreciation for how much he has been a blessing in our family's life.
