Scott Steven Lloyd, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Scott Lloyd is a board-certified family medicine physician at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Lloyd offers comprehensive primary care (general practitioner) services for the entire family. His areas of interest include primary care medicine, adolescent medicine, care of the underserved, and geriatrics. He has extensive expertise in providing acute and chronic medical care to individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and those with multiple medical conditions including, but not limited to, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, kidney disease, and mental health concerns. Dr. Lloyd also provides preventive medicine for people currently in good health and for those with multiple, chronic medical conditions. Dr. Lloyd was raised in Summerville, South Carolina, where he currently resides with his family, and is a graduate of Summerville High School. He attended the College of Charleston for undergraduate schooling, where he studied biology, zoology, and meteorology. He has lived in Cambridge, Maryland, where he earned his Ph.D. in marine and environmental science, and Charlottesville, Virginia, where he worked at the University of Virginia in adult and science education research and at Mary Baldwin College (in Staunton, Virginia) where he taught environmental science. He returned to the Charleston area to attend the Medical University of South Carolina for medical school training. He completed his family medicine residency training at the Trident Medical Center/MUSC Family Medicine Residency Program in Charleston.
