Shreya Narayanan is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Digestive Diseases of Nutrition. She completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at USF and was recruited to the faculty to further the small bowel program. She has a particular interest in celiac disease, small bowel bleeding, and deep enteroscopy. She also has a passion for medical education and very much enjoys serving as Associate Program Director for the GI fellowship program and as a career advisor for the students at USF Morsani College of Medicine.

I waited 5 months to see this Gastro doctor, she treated me solely based on my chart and not what I was telling her or expressing & my level of pain. She did not even consider getting new X-rays, ultrasound, MRIs, she dismissed my pain and concerns and said she would prescribe Symbalta, it may be spelled incorrectly but it's a Mental Health medication. My abdomen is hard as brick, and I relayed that I'm in constant pain. She didn't care about my concerns. I will Never see her again by choice!

Dr. Narayanan expressed genuine compassion about my personal concerns and altered her test request to accommodate my personal concerns; she took the time to clearly explain the course of diagnosis, immediate actions I can take to resolve my remaining symptoms, and a brief overview of some of the possible diagnostic outcomes. Overall, this is the exact kind of excellence in quality of care that I have come to expect from USF/ USFTGP providers.

Dr. Narayanan was excellent. She was very personable and thorough and took her time with me. Dr. Narayanan seemed genuinely interested in helping me with my issue.

The visit was brief. The doctor was very mindful of an existing condition I have which I greatly appreciate her for. Still I don't know much about my condition and dos and don'ts or the path forward besides the next step ahead of us. For many patients, I'm sure this is fine, but I tend to be a bit more detailed. I'm scheduled for an endoscopy and I know nothing about the procedure.

I received the answers I needed by asking direct questions. I don't believe I would have gotten full explanations without further prompting. The doctors were very nice though. I like USF and my experience with each department varies. GI is just slow to respond and slow to see a provider. But the provider is trustworthy once you jump through all the hoops.
