Julia Young, APRN
Family Medicine
About
Julia N. Smith is a clinical nurse who delivers integrative and evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with an inpatient multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, specialists, support staff and registered nurses. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Tampa and Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of South Florida. Smith is affiliated with the Florida Association of Nurse Practitioners and received the CVS Health Foundation Scholarship, McNichols Scholarship and the TGH Nurses Week Scholarship. She is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

About
Dr. Lester treats patients 18 years of age and older.
Dr. Lester is recognized by the NCQA Diabetes Recognition Program.


Bonnie Lohrbach, MD
Family Medicine
About
Prior to transitioning to the outpatient family care setting, Dr. Lohrbach's experience includes missionary work at a 100-bed hospital in Zambia where she cared for a wide range of acute and chronic patients. She also worked as an emergency medicine physician in Ohio and most recently practiced at Petersburg Healthcare Alliance in Petersburg, VA.
Dr. Lohrbach is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling and running.
Dr. Lohrbach treats patients 18 years and older.

Akif Ahmad, MD
Family Medicine
About
Dr. Ahmad has provided comprehensive family medicine care to the Tampa Bay area community since 2015. Before joining Tampa General Medical Group, he treated patients at Evara Health (formerly known as Community Health Centers of Pinellas) in St. Petersburg. Meanwhile, he served as a clinical assistant professor and clinical preceptor for medical students at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Ahmad was also a clinical preceptor for medical students at the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville after moving to the United States from Pakistan to begin his family medicine career.



Tanuja Sharma, MD
Integrative Medicine
About
Dr. Sharma's professional interests include broad spectrum family medicine, educating medical students and residents, and integrative medicine. Her personal interest include international travel, teaching, music, singing, meditation, swimming, Yoga and cooking. She is proficient in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
Dr. Sharma treats patients of all ages.

Anjali Kaimal, MD
Maternal and Fetal Medicine
About
Dr. Kaimal joined the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine in 2022, serving as professor and vice chair of clinical operations for the department of OB-GYN as well as medical director for operations and strategy at the TGH Women’s Institute. She also holds a collaborative appointment at the USF Health College of Public Health.
A nationally recognized academic leader in women’s health, Dr. Kaimal has demonstrated sustained dedication to all three of our mission areas. She has an impressive track record as an NIH-funded researcher, an award-winning educator and mentor and a maternal-fetal medicine specialist with a deep commitment to patient care. She is a collaborative servant leader who has cultivated important innovations and growth that have prepared her well to lead the department.
Dr. Kaimal has published more than 140 peer-reviewed articles and publications and garnered multiple federal (NIH, HRSA and AHRQ) and foundation grants. Her research focuses on optimizing risk-appropriate, patient-centered care in pregnancy, seeking to empower patients as informed medical decision makers and to inform systems-level-interventions to improve patient experience and outcomes. She has an extensive teaching portfolio, ranging from lecturing medical students to serving as a program director for the Massachusetts General Hospital MFM fellowship program. She is the recipient of countless teaching awards.
Dr. Kaimal serves on the board of directors for the Foundation for the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and is the associate editor for obstetrics of the premier OB-GYN journal, Obstetrics and Gynecology. She serves and has served on numerous committees for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and on multiple NIH and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) grant review panels. She is an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society.
Anjali earned her undergraduate degree from Rice University, graduating summa cum laude, and obtained her MD from Harvard Medical School. She performed her OB-GYN residency training at the Brigham & Women’s/Massachusetts General Hospital integrated program. She then completed a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of California San Francisco while also earning a master’s degree in clinical research. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha.
Prior to joining USF Health, Dr. Kaimal was an associate professor at Harvard Medical School and a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she served as chief of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, director of the Deborah Kelly Center for Clinical Research in Obstetrics and Gynecology and founding obstetrics director of the Multidisciplinary Fetal Care Program.
