Julia N. Smith is a clinical nurse who delivers integrative and evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with an inpatient multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, specialists, support staff and registered nurses. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Tampa and Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of South Florida. Smith is affiliated with the Florida Association of Nurse Practitioners and received the CVS Health Foundation Scholarship, McNichols Scholarship and the TGH Nurses Week Scholarship. She is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Sajeel A Chowdhary, MD

Before re-joining Tampa General Hospital, Dr. Chowdhary served as the Director of Medical Neuro-Oncology at the Marcus Neuroscience Institute and Director of Medical Neuro-Oncology and Neurology at both the Marcus Neuroscience Institute and the Lynn Cancer Institute from 2015 - 2023 in Boca Raton, Florida.
Earlier in his career, he was also the Program Director of Neuro-Oncology and Neurology at AdventHealth Cancer Institute and an Associate Professor of Neuro-Oncology and Neurology at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando from 2009-2015.
Since 2015, Dr. Chowdhary has been a Professor of Neuro-Oncology and Neurology at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine/Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton. Dr. Chowdhary has guided over 30 clinical trials focused on GBM and other brain cancers. He has been cited in numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, editorials, and manuscripts. A five-time Castle Connolly Top Doctor award winner, Dr. Chowdhary is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Neurology, the Society for Neuro-Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Brain Tumor Association, the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and the NRG Oncology Clinical Trials network.

Matias Czerwonko, MD

Dr. Matias Czerwonko is a thoracic and abdominal surgeon with advanced expertise in minimally invasive and robotic techniques. He joins Tampa General Hospital with extensive international experience from leading surgical centers in the United States and Argentina.
An accomplished academic surgeon, Dr. Czerwonko has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to multiple book chapters, and presented his work at major international conferences on robotic surgery, transplantation, and esophageal diseases. His research and clinical practice are driven by a dedication to surgical innovation, academic excellence, and improving patient outcomes. At the TGH Cancer Institute, Dr. Czerwonko specializes in the surgical treatment of complex thoracic cancers, providing advanced, individualized care within a comprehensive, patient-centered, and compassionate framework. He is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing him to care for a diverse patient population.
