Dr. Tricia McBurney earned her MD from the MUSC. She completed her residency training in Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia. She was an Academic Generalist Fellow at MUSC, where she earned her MSCR. She is passionate about resident and medical student education, as evidenced by her role as the Pediatric Clerkship Co-Director for the College of Medicine and winning numerous teaching awards. She is the faculty advisor to the medical students for the Paul B. Underwood Jr. Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor at MUSC. Her research interests are in medical education, and she is actively involved as a Master Facilitator in the simulation center. She is a member of the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics.

She was an Academic Generalist Fellow at MUSC, where she earned her MSCR. She has been the Program Director for the Med/Peds residency program since 2009. Her research interests include transition medicine and standardizing care for infant sepsis evaluations. She has collaborated with community pediatricians on grants related to the transitional care of patients with sickle cell disease and participates in a national health care transition learning collaborative.

She completed residency with Texas Tech University followed by fellowship at the combined St. Jude Children's Research Hospital \& University of Tennessee Health Science Center program in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Bittle takes care of children with both acute and chronic infections. She has a special interest in caring for children, adolescents, and young adults who are living with HIV. Dr. Janice Key is a professor of pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Dr. Key has long been interested in wellness promotion and obesity prevention. While continuing to be an active clinician, Dr. Key has also conducted community and clinical research projects including school-based health care, adolescent smoking cessation, teen pregnancy prevention, interventions for at-risk middle school students, as well as obesity treatment and prevention. She is the director of school and community-based programs at the Boeing Center for Children's Wellness.
For the past 20 years she has worked to decrease childhood obesity through improved physician practice and as well as through school-based programs. Her innovative program that pairs physicians with school wellness committees, the Docs Adopt School Health Initiative©, has led to improved nutrition and increased physical activity in over 150 schools. In the 2014-2015 school year the Docs-Adopt School Health Initiative expanded into nine school districts across South Carolina as well as schools in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. The Docs-Adopt School Health Initiative is a recommended strategy in the SC Obesity Action Plan 2014-2019. Dr. Key has served on local and national committees including the executive committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) section on adolescent health, the SC AAP executive committee, and the Charleston County Medical Society school health committee.
Dr. Key leads the South Carolina Medical Association childhood obesity taskforce and is a member of the SC DHEC obesity advisory committee. She has received the MUSC Distinguished Service Faculty Award, the Charleston County Medical Society Wannamaker Community Service Award, the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy Vincent Outstanding Professional Award, the AAP Special Achievement Award, and several MUSC teaching awards.

Dr Ronald J. Teufel II serves as an associate professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in the pediatric hospitalist section of the general pediatrics division. He serves as the director of the pediatric hospitalist section with research interest and training within health services research (HSR). His research interests include topics that incorporate both HSR and pediatric hospital medicine including: health information technology (HIT), quality improvement in the care of hospitalized children, and pediatric asthma. By applying his training in HSR from his academic generalist fellowship, his recent work has focused on evaluating inpatient pediatric healthcare quality on the local (acute care of asthma), regional (assess South Carolina asthma care with Medicaid data), and national level (evaluating the use of HIT across the nation). Additionally, he enjoys performing many educational activities including teaching evidence-based medicine to residents and scientific writing to resident physicians, academic fellows, and junior faculty.

She is certified by the National Certification Corporation and is a member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses and Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.Ms. Elmore is originally from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Culture from the College of Charleston and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. Ms. Elmore completed her graduate education at Duke University, receiving a Master of Science in Nursing.Ms. Elmore developed her love for the neonatal population during her undergraduate years at the College of Charleston while volunteering to rock infants in the neonatal intensive care unit at MUSC. She later returned to work at MUSC, initially as a patient care technician, in the Pediatric Emergency Department followed by her first position as a staff nurse in MUSC's neonatal intensive care unit. She gained a wealth of additional NICU nursing experience working at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC and Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. She now rejoins MUSC from Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH, continuing in her role as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Heidi J. Murphy is a neonatologist who has particular interests in providing life support to our sickest babies. Dr. Murphy attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she was supported by a full Non-Resident Tuition Exemption Scholarship. At LSU, she was a member of the Honors College and earned her bachelor's degree in biological sciences. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Murphy returned to Louisiana and completed her pediatrics training in New Orleans at Louisiana State University Health Science Center and Children's Hospital of New Orleans. After serving as chief resident at LSU, she moved to Charleston where she completed her neonatology training here at the Medical University of South Carolina. She joined the MUSC faculty in 2018.Dr. Murphy's clinical and research interests focus on providing life support to our sickest babies, as well as evaluating and treating kidney disease in neonatal patients. During her time at LSUHSC, she was honored to receive an Outstanding Teaching Resident Award bestowed by the LSU School of Medicine medical third year medical school class, the Penny Scurto, M.D. Outstanding Pediatric Resident Award bestowed by the LSU Department of Pediatrics faculty, and the 7th Annual Gretch M. Dr. William Basco has been a general pediatrician and pediatric hospitalist at the MUSC Health Children's Hospital since 1997. The majority of his clinical activities are on the pediatric hospitalist service, caring for hospitalized children at Sean Jenkins Children's Hospital. However, he also supervises pediatric trainees in the University Pediatrics - Rutledge Tower location and the Level 1 newborn nursery. His research interests include medication errors in children, particularly errors involving opioid medications.

Dr. John V Pastore is a Pediatric Hospitalist that specializes in the care of infants, children, and young adults. He works for the Medical University of South Carolina at Shawn Jenkin's Children's Hospital. Dr. Pastore attended medical school at St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He went on to complete his pediatric residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Pastore practiced outpatient pediatrics on the east coast for 10 years before returning to Western New York. He returned to Buffalo to serve as medical director of the inpatient program at the Children's Hospital.
Dr. Pastore earned a Master of Business Administration from the University at Buffalo School of Management. His interests include the care of medically complex patients with an emphasis on quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes. Sherif Ibrahim is a highly skilled advanced endoscopist with extensive experience in both adult and pediatric populations. He specializes in pancreaticobiliary diseases and is proficient in a wide range of interventional endoscopic procedures, including ERCP, EUS-guided interventions, and therapeutic endoscopy. Dr. Ibrahim obtained his MD from West Virginia University (WVU), completed his residency at the University of Louisville, and pursued his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He then completed a combined adult and pediatric advanced endoscopy fellowship in San Antonio through Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Ibrahim currently serves as Director of Endoscopy at the Children's Hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where he holds a dual appointment in Department of Pediatrics and Medicine practicing Advanced Endoscopy for all age groups.
