Alexander Thomas Gibbons, M.D., MS

Dr. Alexander Gibbons is a general pediatric surgeon who cares for patients of all sizes, from babies still in the womb to teenagers. He has special interests in fetal diagnosis, neonatal surgery, chest wall deformities, colorectal surgery, and pediatric oncology, and he uses minimally invasive techniques whenever they're the best option for his patients.

Dr. Gibbons completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by a fellowship in fetal surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

As the oldest of five children and the son of a NICU nurse, Dr. Gibbons grew up immersed in stories of caring for critically ill newborns. That early exposure shaped his path into medicine, and during his training he discovered a passion not only for treating children, but for guiding their families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Dr. Gibbons is also a father of two, an experience that informs how he connects with the families he treats. Outside the hospital, he enjoys hiking, reading, playing board games, and visiting National Parks with his wife and children. Patients and families may also notice his signature accessory: a rotating collection of silly socks, worn in the hope that even a hard day at the hospital can include a smile."
