Melanie C. Kittrell, CNM

Melanie Kittrell, MSN, CNM is a certified nurse-midwife with a background in nursing

education, labor and delivery, and comprehensive women's healthcare. She earned her Master of

Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nurse-Midwifery from East Carolina University in

2018, following a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the same institution and an associate

degree in Nursing from South Piedmont Community College.

With a wealth of experience in maternal and newborn care, Melanie has worked in labor and

delivery settings, managing both high-risk and low-risk obstetric patients, assisting in cesarean

deliveries, and providing postpartum and newborn couplet care. In addition to her clinical

expertise, she has a passion for patient education, having provided prenatal counseling, well-

woman exams, and contraceptive management, including the placement of IUDs and

Nexplanon®.

Melanie is also an experienced nursing educator, teaching medical-surgical and maternal health

nursing at the undergraduate level. She has developed course materials, collaborated with faculty

on curriculum revisions, and mentored nursing students.

Committed to advancing midwifery and women's health, Melanie attends professional

conferences to continue growing her knowledge in the field of women's health. She is passionate

about serving her local community and enjoys precepting future healthcare providers. Outside of

work, she loves spending time with family, camping, and crocheting.
