He received his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico. In addition, he completed a fellowship in orthopaedic arthroscopy and sports medicine at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia.Dr. Rivera has helped to provide care to several high schools and collegiate teams in Virginia, including Henrico High School (HS), Godwin High School (HS), King William High School and Hampden Sydney College (NCAA). Dr. Rivera also participated in athletic care during the Washington Redskins training camp in 2018. He specializes in the operative and non-operative treatment of sports medicine injuries. His focus is on arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the shoulder and knee. He is a member of the medical staff at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center and is accepting new patients.
