Dr. Jorge Agi is a dual trained ophthalmologist specializing in ocular oncology, oculoplastics and orbital surgery. He received his medical degree from the Federal University of Goias, Brazil. Upon completion of medical school, he completed an ophthalmology residency and oculoplastics fellowship at the Santa Casa School of Medicine in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He subsequently completed additional fellowships in oculoplastics/orbital surgery and ocular oncology in Canada. Prior to joining USF Health, Dr. Agi practiced in Sao Paulo and was a faculty member at the Santa Casa School of Medicine. As part of this region’s only academic medical center, Dr. Agi is committed to academia through education and research. He is an assistant professor in the department of ophthalmology and is dedicated to training the next generation of medical students and residents. His research interests include ocular oncology and orbital disease. He has authored numerous peer reviewed publications and book chapters. Additionally, he has participated in national multicenter trials and has presented at national and international conferences.

The physician did not know why I was there and expressed the the referral doctor did not note the chart there reason. Upsetting and this made me feel uncomfortable and upset.

Dr Agi was professional, patient and empathetic. He took the time to respond to my questions and provide clear expectations during a precarious time filled with unknowns as we await biopsy results. He is highly skilled and I feel very fortunate to be under his care.

Would have liked more information on what my eye surgery entailed, type of anesthesia to be used, complications and alternatives. One of my tear duct stents came out before I even left the surgery center. The next day, when I had a follow up appt with the Dr, he said it happens. If it scars over, we can put another one in at a later time. I just had it done and it lasted an hour or two. Shouldn't that be replaced while the tear duct is open and just had the surgery? If it makes no difference, why have them put in in the first place?

Dr. Jorge Agi and his assistant were very gentle with their ministrations. When I questioned whether they checked under my eyelid, Dr. Agi did the procedure again to reassure me and make sure he didn't miss anything amiss. The team was extremely tender with how they handled me (i.e., helping me by holding my head in place on the machine). The assistant was very attentive by taking and placing my belongings on the table so that I don't have to hold onto so much. If I have another problem arise, I'd like to come to this institute again for treatment.
