Yazeed Gussous, MD

Yazeed Gussous, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery. He offers a wide range of treatments for spinal conditions, from nonsurgical therapies and minimally invasive procedures to complex reconstruction surgery for spinal deformity and spinal tumors.

Dr. Gussous aims to help patients return to an independent, pain-free life while minimizing the impact of treatment. "I try to avoid surgery whenever possible," he says. "If surgery is needed, I prioritize minimally invasive and motion-preserving procedures." In spinal fusion surgery, he uses innovative technologies to improve precision, such as navigation, robotics, artificial intelligence and custom implants.

Drawn to El Camino Health for its excellent reputation in patient care, Dr. Gussous works closely with patients to develop tailored treatment plans. He strives to offer the most advanced options for spine disorders.

An author of several articles and book chapters, Dr. Gussous is actively involved in spine care research. He works to develop new technologies, including implants for minimally invasive procedures. At El Camino Health, he helps train and mentor visiting spine surgeons and medical students through his partnership with Fogarty Innovation. He also serves on the boards of journals and professional societies in spine surgery.

He is fluent in Arabic.

Outside of work, Dr. Gussous enjoys swimming, cooking, hiking and spending time with his family.
