Mitchell Oetken, D.O.

Dr. Mitchell Oetken is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon dedicated to helping patients reduce pain, restore mobility, and return to the activities they enjoy most. He specializes in joint replacement, sports medicine, orthopaedic trauma, and minimally invasive procedures, with expertise in robotic-assisted surgery, anterior approach total hip replacement, partial and total knee replacement, and anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement. Dr. Oetken believes in partnering with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that improve quality of life and help them stay active at every stage of life.





A former collegiate basketball player, Dr. Oetken earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northland College before pursuing postgraduate studies at Logan College of Chiropractic. He went on to earn his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University, graduating with Sigma Sigma Phi honors and recognition as Anatomy Student of the Year. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Community Memorial Hospital in California and received additional training at Children's Hospital of Orange County, Ventura County Medical Center, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Prior to joining MUSC Health, Dr. Oetken practiced in California and Indiana, where he was recognized as a Top Doctor. He also served as team physician for multiple high school athletic programs and now supports student-athletes through MUSC Health's partnership with Lancaster County schools.





Beyond caring for patients, Dr. Oetken is passionate about serving the communities where he lives and works. He has been involved in community development initiatives and local government and values building strong relationships throughout the region. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, and two Labradoodles, as well as biking, basketball, traveling, and exploring the outdoors.
